Holly arranged for a limousine to pick up the ladies. Judging by the amount of luggage he had to load into his trunk, the driver assumed the ladies were going on a month long safari to Africa, rather than a long weekend in Vegas. He evidently didn’t travel with women very often.

Once they were all packed in the limo and on their way to the airport, Holly broke out a bottle of Dom Perignon and six fluted crystal glasses. She included one for Susan even though she was missing. She undid the wire stopper, and gently eased out the cork. Despite taking precautions, the cork exploded out of the bottle, struck the roof of the limo and careened off the windows. They all ducked and laughed, while the champagne bubbled out of the bottle. Holly filled each of their glasses and as they were about to take their first sip Anna held her glass up and said, “To Susan. “She should be here with us.”

“Here, here! To Susan! She should be with us. She’s a founding member of The Mahjong Club! “Cat said.

“I don’t like the way Tony treats her” Holly said.

“Really? You could have fooled me.” Priscilla said sarcastically.

“I don’t like him either. But he is Susan’s husband and we should stay out of it.” Lori said.

“I’m not sure I agree. I don’t think we should shoot him, like Holly wants to do, but I’m not comfortable allowing him dominate her the way he does. How do you know it won’t get worse?” Priscilla asked.

“We’re there for her if she wants us. She knows that. I’m just afraid we could make it worse by getting involved. Tony can be scary sometimes.” Anna said.

“He’s only scary to women. I know the type. He wouldn’t pull that macho bullshit with a guy. I have a couple of brothers who would be more than willing to come down and throw him in the lake with the alligators if I asked them to.” Cat added as she thought of her brawny, football playing, beer drinking brothers.

“Really not a bad idea.” Anna said. “We could all pitch in for their airfare.”

Before they could discuss it any further, the limo pulled up to the West Palm Beach International Airport. The people waiting curbside turned to see the five attractive ladies pour out of the limo. The driver signaled the curbside porter to take the ladies’ luggage. The porter checked their ID’s, and ticketed their bags for Las Vegas. Holly paid the driver and added a generous tip for the spilled champagne. In a swirl of color, the ladies went through the door and headed for the gate.

Flying first class has its privileges, Cat thought. When she flew for the Gucci family, she always flew first class. She had accumulated so many frequent flyer miles she upgraded her friends to first class for this trip. Being an executive herself, Holly only flew first class. When she was working, it was a perk of the job. But now she had the money to afford it, and she couldn’t see ever going back to coach.
